The Florida Department of Health on June 20, 2017, filed an emergency suspension of Dr. William Dalton's medical license.

The agency's investigation found the doctor took advantage of a 42-year-old patient by fondling the woman's breasts and toucher her private area as she went to his practice on West Lake Mary Boulevard 11 times in the last year.

In May, the woman filed a police report with the Lake Mary Police Department and a complaint with the health department.

"You're supposed to go to a doctor and feel comfortable and secure, and this is what he's doing," said Officer Rebekah Matviak, with the Lake Mary Police Department. "Kind of just changing the whole face of a medical doctor."

Matviak said that for the last two months, Lake Mary investigators and the Department of Health have been investigating the woman's claim. Other victims and witnesses have since come forward.

Information from interviews and the investigation will eventually be turned over to the State Attorney's Office.

"As of right now, he has the one charge of sexual battery," Matviak said. "Where that can go is undetermined at this time because of the amount of potential victims and witnesses."

Dalton surrendered at the Lake Mary Police Department on Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of sexual battery.

After posting a $20,000 bond, Dalton walked out of the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford just after 7 a.m. Thursday, saying nothing as he exited the facility.

A heavily redacted arrest report states that one of the alleged acts occurred in Lake Mary on April 28, 2017.

Dalton's court date is still to be determined. The doctor had no previous complaints, according to the Florida Department of Health.
