OneBlood, Central Florida's main not-for-profit blood center, pitched in with Harvey relief efforts, but now they need your help.

  • OneBlood sent nearly 300 units to Texas
  • Harvey has disrupted blood donations there
  • OneBlood urges donors to come in

The group has sent nearly 300 units of blood in two separate shipments to Texas. OneBlood said it will continue to send blood to Texas until further notice.

OneBlood says the units were urgently needed, because the flooding and destruction from Harvey has prevented blood centers from collecting donations.

OneBlood is working with the U.S. Dept. of Health, Blood Centers of America and America's Blood Centers to get donated blood to devastated areas.

Blood donations in Central Florida will help maintain the local supply, while also help people in Texas.

All blood types are needed, but there is an urgent call for O negative and O positive blood, along with platelets and plasma donations.
