Amazon has opened its first convenience store with zero checkout lines.

  • Amazon's first convenience store opens in Seattle
  • Shoppers scan items with Amazon Go app

The store located in Seattle is called Amazon Go.

The process is simple — shoppers will first scan the Amazon Go app when entering, pick out the items they want and then leave.

The bill is automatically charged to their Amazon account.

The store is compact, coming in at 1,800 square feet. According to Amazon, the size allows customers to go in and out of the store fast.

Employees have been testing the stores technology since 2016, but Monday is the first time it will be open to the public.

The Seattle location is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m to 9 p.m.
