Some young entrepreneurs on Thursday were getting their wares ready to sell at this weekend’s Parramore Farmers Market.

There are more than two dozen kids in the Black Bee Honey program. The start-up business is providing students educational and entrepreneurial experience.

The high school and college students bottled and packaged four varieties of Florida honey.

“Our community is actually a food desert. We plan on turning it into a food oasis,” said Chinecia Green, a participant in the Parramore program.

The program is a part of the larger community organization, Parramore Kidz Zone, or PKZ.

“Our hope is that they can go out into the world and become business owners, right here in the Parramore area and provide for their families,” said Commissioner Regina Hill.
