The prosecution and defense have rested Monday in the murder trial where Sanel Saint Simon is accused of killing 16-year-old Alexandria Chery.

Sanel Saint Simon is charged in the murder of Alexandria Chery and dumping her body in a wooded area back in 2014. She was the daughter of his then-girlfriend Rosie Joseph.

Throughout the trial, the prosecution stacked up evidence against Saint Simon by calling to stand family, friends, the detectives on the case, and a former boss of Saint Simon.

Deputies originally arrested Saint Simon on charges of providing false information to law enforcement and attempted destruction of evidence. He has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

The jury will return 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, and the judge also read instructions to the jury on laws pertaining to the case.

Closing arguments are set to begin Tuesday morning. They're set to wrap up around lunchtime, and then the jury will begin deliberating.
