  • He had been preschool teacher at Bright Horizons in Baldwin Park
  • Hamilton had been accused last year of sexually abusing a boy

Jayrico Jayrice Hamilton, 25, who was a teacher at Bright Horizons of Baldwin Park, had faced allegations of abuse dating to the middle of last year.

Hamilton has been charged with sexual battery on a victim under 12, lewd or lascivious molestation, lewd or lascivious conduct and child abuse, according to Orlando Police.

In July 2017, an attorney filed a lawsuit in the Ninth Judicial Circuit against Bright Horizons on behalf of the parents of a 4-year-old boy who they said had been abused by Hamilton. The attorney, Jeff Herman, said Bright Horizons had ignored warning signs about Hamilton, most notably that another teacher had told Bright Horizons administrators that Hamilton was "grooming" the boy for abuse but didn't remove him from his position.

Two months earlier, the Department of Children and Families went to Bright Horizons in response to allegations that another child had been sexually assaulted by Hamilton at the preschool, according to the suit. Hamilton was soon fired, and a director was placed on administrative leave, the suit said.
