A precautionary boil water notice issued for beachside residents has been rescinded, according to city of Melbourne officials.

The notice was issued Sunday after a water main break in along Burns Boulevard in Indian Harbour Beach.

Residents between Wallace Avenue and the Pineda Causeway were advised to boil all water used for drinking and cleaning as a precaution.

Mainland customers were not impacted.

The notice was lifted after tests showed the water is safe to drink.
