The Casselberry Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Saturday morning.

  • Shooting happened on Monarch Circle in Casselberry
  • John Murray, 30, taken into custody
  • Woman's name hasn't been released

Police received a call about a shooting at 140 Monarch Circle in Casselberry just before 11 a.m.

Officials said an adult female was found dead and the suspect, John Murray, 30, was taken into custody.

He has been charged with first-degree premeditated murder, according to Casselberry police.

Witnesses told police they heard arguing and then a gunshot. They said the woman and man lived together but didn't know the nature of their relationship.

Police Saturday afternoon said Murray and the woman, a live-in girlfriend, were arguing and that Murray punched a mirror and cut his hand.

The argument moved outside, where police say Murray shot the woman "several times, causing her death."

The woman's name hasn't been released because the family hasn't been notified.
