The weekend is here and the heat is staying with us. High pressure over the southeastern U.S. is holding firm and keeping fronts well to our northwest.

We’ll keep a southeast flow around the high Saturday, and may squeeze out isolated showers in the low-level moisture in place, similar to today.

Under a mix of sun and clouds, highs climb back into the mid-80s. We may even see a few neighborhoods in the upper 80s. More sun is in store Sunday, with dry conditions and highs in the mid to upper 80s potentially closing in on record territory.

We keep the mid to upper 80s Monday, then an approaching front may squeeze out isolated showers and bring us down into the lower 80s Tuesday. Eyes on the end of next week, as a stronger front may finally make it into central Florida.

An elevated rip current risk sticks with us into the weekend, so if you’re planning a beach trip and want to swim, make sure you’re doing so near an open lifeguard stand and pay attention to beach flags.

Poor to fair surfing conditions are also in place, with an east-southeast trade swell and easing swell mix. Wave heights are topping out around three to four feet.
