Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies said they were alerted about a man on the side of eastbound S.R. 50 near the Wedgefield community was acting erratically.

When deputies arrived, they tried to have a conversation with him, but that's when he hopped into a silver Nissan Rogue and rammed one of their patrol vehicles.

They pursued him down S.R. 50 toward Brevard County and sent out an alert to deploy stop sticks.

As the driver pulled the vehicle onto the Interstate 95 southbound on-ramp, deputies stopped the vehicle.

The man, later identified by Sheriff's deputies as 32-year-old Aaron Wilt, was taken to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.

One section of the on-ramp was shut down to drivers.

The SUV has been taken as evidence in this case.

Wilt has been charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer with a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding and drug possession.
