Altamonte Springs authorities continue to search for a man and a woman that left the scene after shots were fired outside a movie theater Saturday night.

  • Police say dispute over mobile phone led to shooting
  • Police are looking for two people in a silver Nissan

The shooting happened in the parking lot outside the AMC Altamonte Mall 18 at about 7 p.m., police said.

A male and female arrived at the parking lot to sell a mobile phone.

The man with the mobile phone approached a silver Nissan to make the sale.

An altercation ensued, police said, and the people inside the vehicle took the phone away from the man.

The driver of the Nissan took off, dragging the man along.

The seller of the mobile phone then pulled out his gun and fired five gunshots at the fleeing vehicle.

Police said they are unsure if anyone inside the vehicle was injured.

The man who fired the shots was taken into police custody and is being cooperative.

The area around the movie theater was roped off while police conducted an investigation.

"There was a meeting that they had communicated with each other to meet here for the purchase of the cell phone," said Evelyn Estevez with Altamonte Springs Police. "Then the disturbance occurred."

Police are looking for the people who were inside the silver Nissan.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Altamonte Springs Police Department at (407) 339-2441.
