Cocoa Police Department say a national search is underway for a suspect accused of killing a 65-year-old Ocala man, who was found dead in a Cocoa motel room.

Police say they responded to Dixie Motel Wednesday just after 11 a.m. after an employee at Dixie Motel on 301 Forrest Avenue reported finding a body in one of the motel rooms.

Authorities determined that 65-year-old Terry Scott Hilliard, who was in town to watch the SpaceX launch, was murdered.

According to a news release, Hilliard arrived at the motel Tuesday around 5 p.m. and with the alleged suspect, who police describe as a younger man.

Detectives say the suspect fled with the victim’s vehicle, a black Chevy Cruz, to South Florida.

The vehicle was found Wednesday afternoon abandoned at 11093 NW 138th Street in Hialeah.

Police say it’s possible that the suspect hitched a ride to another part of South Florida since the abandoned vehicle was found near the intersection of the Florida Turnpike and U.S. 27.

Nationwide and statewide bulletins on the suspect have reportedly been posted.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early to mid-twenties, with average build, dark hair and a short goatee.

He was seen on security footage wearing a black, short-sleeved, button-down shirt, with loosing fitting blue jeans and black shoes.
