Marvel fans! You're in for a treat. Not only is Marvel Universe Live! Age of Heroes in town, but we also got backstage to see where the characters hang up their clothes.

  • Marvel Universe Live! Age of Heroes coming to Orlando
  • 120 costumes used in the show, some broken into 15 pieces
  • Show playing at Amway Center from Jan. 12 -15

The head of wardrobe Rebecca Williams took us behind-the-scenes to feel a bunch of costumes, head pieces, body "armour" and concept art.

Williams said nearly 120 costumes are used in the show. Some are so intricate, they're broken down into a whopping 15 pieces.

"(Wardrobe took) 800 hours of painting, which is kinda like watching the show 256 times, I believe," Williams said.

Here's a fun fact about the not-so-handsome Raveger characters: No two look alike.

"They're kinda like snowflakes in that matter," she said, saying each is custom made.

Williams let us pick up several of the headpieces. When we flipped them over, we could see how designers "MacGyvered" everyday things.

"Yeah, it's just a baseball helmet!" she said, adding that they "totally" tricked it out.

She pointed out that the Fire Tribe helmets are made with heavy duty leather; Natural fibers, she says, is key.

"You don't want to see something accidentally happen and the costume melts to the performer's skin," she explained. "That would just be really bad."

Something else Williams pointed out were sipping straw-like things called stringers. They're attached to most of the costumes.

"So this is like an electric lighting system," she said. "What this is is it emits a signal to a receiver. They can have four lights a piece on every performer on the floor."

In other words, spotlight guy "Bob" doesn't have to shine his light on spastic targets, like Spider-Man; High-tech stuff does it for him.

We also learned that the bedazzled costumes aren't made of cheap-y materials.

"Swarovski," she confirmed. "If you've ever been to the pretty blue store in the mall, that's where all of these stones come from."
