Cast and crew for the upcoming movie "First Man," starring Ryan Gosling, were filming at Kennedy Space Center on Monday.

The one day of filming was originally scheduled for Feb. 14, but it was moved up a week.

Casting directors had put out a call for local extras late last month.

"First Man" is a biography of Neil Armstrong, who on July 21, 1969 became the first person to set foot on the moon. It's is based on the book “First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong” by James R. Hansen and follows Armstrong's journey to the historic moon mission.

The movie stars Gosling as Armstrong, Corey Stoll (“Ant-Man”) as Buzz Aldrin, Claire Foy (“The Crown”) and Kyle Chandler (“Bloodline”). Damien Chazelle (“La La Land”) is directing.

The film is set to hit theaters Oct. 12.
