Universal Orlando plans to add office space and warehouses to recently purchased property off Sand Lake Road, according to documents filed with Orange County.

  • Universal Orlando files new building plans with county
  • Warehouses, office space planned on lot off Sand Lake Road
  • Additional property to likely be used for theme park expansion

The plans include a three-story office building, three warehouses encompassing more than 530,000 square feet of space and an 8,400-square-foot data center. The plan also includes multiple parking lots.

The rest of the property is marked for "future development."

The structures would be built on the 101-acre property Universal acquired in October 2017 for $27.5 million.

The acquisition added to the 475 acres off Universal Boulevard that the theme park giant purchased in 2015. Universal hasn’t shared what it plans to do with the additional land, although it could be used for a new theme park.

In recent years, Universal has accelerated expansion plans, opening a slew of new attractions.

Last November, Universal announced a Nintendo-themed land for Orlando. Speculation has grown as to where that land would be located.

It also announced plans to build two hotels at the former site of Wet ‘n Wild. Both are set to open in the summer of 2019.

And last May, Universal opened its “third theme park,” Volcano Bay.
