A USF football player was arrested on a sexual battery charge Friday over an incident that police say occurred in a campus residence hall.

USF Police officers responded to a call at about 1 a.m. about a possible sexual battery on someone at the Holly C Residence Hall. The incident reportedly occurred around noon the previous day.

Investigators interviewed Kevaughn Javell Dingle, 18, and based on information collected, charged Dingle with sexual battery. He was arrested and taken to Hillsborough County's central booking facilities.

USF Police say Dingle and the alleged victim were acquaintances.

Dingle, a Florida native recruited from Miami Carol City High School to play wide receiver for the Bulls, is in his first year with USF.
