ORLANDO, Fla. — Disney’s Animal Kingdom will soon feature new street entertainment: a Pandora Utility Suit.

  • Pandora Utility Suit coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom
  • Set to debut April 22 at Pandora-The World of Avatar
  • Visitors will be able to interact with suit and pilot

The 10-foot-tall mechanical suit is set to debut April 22 at Pandora-The World of Avatar, just in time for the theme park’s 20th anniversary celebration.

Visitors will be able to interact with a Pandora Conservation Initiative pilot who uses the suit to explore the planet’s plant life and animals.

The suit looks similar to the military AMP suits seen in the “Avatar” film, but instead has been designed for research purposes. It features articulated hands and a shoulder span of more than five feet.

The suit was created through a partnership between Michael Curry Studios, James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment, Disney Parks Live Entertainment and Walt Disney Imagineering.

A behind-the-scenes video on the official Disney Parks Blog shows how the suit was created.
