WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Legoland Florida is giving pirate-loving visitors plenty of ways to celebrate next year.

  • Legoland Florida dubs 2020 "Year of the Pirate"
  • Theme park has pirate-themed activities and events planned
  • New Pirate Island Hotel set to debut April 17

The Winter Haven theme park on Tuesday announced 2020 will be its "Year of the Pirate."

The campaign centers around the opening of its new Pirate Island Hotel on April 17. The five-story, 150-room hotel will also be home to the pirate-themed Shipwreck Restaurant, an adults-only Smuggler's Bar, character experiences and kid-friendly entertainment areas.

Also debuting during the "Year of the Pirate" will be a new water ski show on April 18. The new show replaces Battle for Brickbeard's Bounty, which will close after an eight-year run. The pirate water ski show will feature water stunts, pirate humor and skiing acrobatics.

Visitors can also meet pirate characters and participate in resort-wide activities during the new PirateFest Weekends, which run three consecutive weekends beginning April 18.
