STATEWIDE — An additional 7,000 coronavirus cases have been reported in Florida.

The Florida Health Department also reported another 63 deaths Tuesday morning.

The Florida Department of Health reported 7,347 new cases, with 63 deaths and 380 hospitalizations.

It was reported that Orange County has 361 new cases, tops in Central Florida.

The state's overall positivity rate now sits at 9.41 percent. The daily positivity rate has ranged between 10.3 percent and 19.3 percent over the last two weeks, according to the latest report.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Florida is now 213,794, according to numbers released Tuesday morning.

Of the five Central Florida deaths reported, two were in Lake County with one each in Polk, Volusia and Brevard.

In the Bay area, 1,465 new cases were reported with the bulk of those in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. There were 16 total Bay area deaths in Tuesday's numbers: Pinellas (7), Hillsborough (5), Manatee (30 and one in Polk.

While most of the new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 involve people in their 20s and 30s, statistics show it’s people 65 and older who are at the highest risk of dying from coronavirus.  On Monday, Governor Ron DeSantis talked about what the state is doing to protect the most vulnerable population during the pandemic.

“People 65 and up, we’re advising them to avoid crowds and minimize close contact with people,” said DeSantis.
