PLANT CITY, Fla. — Hillsborough County investigators are working to solve the county's latest homicide.

  • Woman found Monday morning with trauma to upper body
  • Neighbors say the mobile home community no stranger to disturbances
  • Anyone with information asked to call Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office

It happened overnight in a rural area of Plant City, near a mobile home community.

A woman was found dead in the 4800 block of Trapnell Road. Deputies are still looking for clues.

"I had seen the police lights come, so I'd opened the window and then within 30 minutes we heard the helicopters," said resident Stephanie Morris.

It was about 1 a.m. Monday when investigators found the body of an adult woman with trauma to her upper body.

Authorities didn't say if it was a domestic violence incident, but they don't believe this was a random attack.

Morris said the mobile home community is no stranger to disturbances.

"There's a lot of yelling, a lot. Even neighbors across the street, they hear them yelling all the time," she said.

She said she doesn't recall authorities responding to a murder in the area.

Another neighbor, Cindy Reeves, raced over her after her mom called and told her what happened.

"I'm definitely worried. My mom and my daughter and my grandkids live here and it's very scary," she said.

Investigators have not released the name of the victim, and so far little is known about the case. Neighbors say they'll continue to follow any updates while praying for the victim.
