5 p.m. TUESDAY UPDATE: The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that the girl, 14 years old, has died from her injuries.

BRANDON, Fla. — On Monday morning, a female in a car was found with a gunshot wound at a Brandon Walgreens, according to authorities.

At around 1:40 a.m., deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrived at the Walgreens at 128 East Brandon Blvd. and found the female passenger inside a car with a wound. Her age has not been given.

She was first taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, but later she was flown to Tampa General Hospital in "very critical condition," described Crystal Clark, the public affairs coordinator with the Sheriff's Office, in a news release.

According to witnesses, there was a shooting at Kingsway Road and East Clay Avenue, about a mile away from the Walgreens, and detectives believe the female was targeted, stated Clark.

There were four other people in the car at the time and no one else was injured, Clark confirmed, adding that no arrests have been made.

Clark did not reveal the passenger's identity or age.
