PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- Pinellas County Schools will begin using text messages as an additional way to communicate with employees and families in the 2018-19 school year.

The text messages will only be sent to communicate information related to emergencies. 

Employees and parents/guardians of students in Pinellas County Schools can text "Y" or "Yes" to 67587 to begin receiving text messages from the school district. Opting out is easy: send the message "Stop" to 67587 at any time.

The mobile number used to opt in must already be on file with the school district.

Only employees of Pinellas County Schools or a parents/guardians of a student in the school district can enroll in this service.

This opt-in campaign is being done in preparation for using text messages in the 2018-19 school year. 

If parents or employees have not opted-in by May 14 they will receive an opt-in text reminder if they already have a mobile number on file with the school district.
