Here's a story – an update actually – about a very famous home that has a new owner and future.

  • Brady Bunch house purchased by HGTV
  • It plans to restore home to '1970s glory'

The iconic Brady Bunch house, seen often in the television series that ran from 1969 to 1974, has been purchased by HGTV.

"I'm excited to share that HGTV is the winning bidder and we'll restore the home to its 1970s glory as only HGTV can," said CEO David Zaslav. "More detail to come over the next few months but we’ll bring all the resources to bear to tell safe, fun stories with this beloved piece of American TV history."

The house sold in 1973 for just $61,000. The amount HGTV paid wasn't disclosed, but the home was listed a few weeks ago at just under $2 million.

At the time, the listing agent said the home was the second-most photographed home in the country, with the White House first.

Former *NSYNC performer Lance Bass was also interested in buying the home. He tweeted his disappointment at losing out:

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is located in Studio City, Calif.
