TAMPA, Fla. — Here's what you need to know about "A Bronx Tale," playing at the Straz Center in Tampa this weekend:

  • "A Bronx Tale" originated as an autobiographical one-man show written and performed by Oscar-nominated writer/actor Chazz Palminteri. It has since been adapted into a feature film and a Broadway musical.
  • Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken composed the music for the musical version, so the wiseguys in this "Bronx Tale" don't just lie, steal, and murder. They also sing and dance!
  • Every night of the show, actor Michael Barra, who plays "Jojo the Whale," has to eat a sandwich and a slice of pizza. For the Tampa stop on their national tour, he's eating from Sally O'Neal's Pizza. (Virginia approves!)
