PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Rays fans tell us a pilgrimage to Charlotte Sports Park for a Tampa Bay Rays Spring Training game is the proper way to kick off baseball season.

Why?

"It's more personal," they say.

Yes, the setting is smaller, so fans have better access to the players. During pre-game warm-ups, fans line the edge of the field seeking autographs.

Most players make stops to sign and smile, even for selfies.

Attendees can pay for a traditional seat at a game, but if you want that real "in-game" feel, grab a spot on the grassy hill next to right field!

Rays Spring Training games continue through March 24. Then the team packs up and returns to the Trop to begin their regular season schedule with the home opener on March 28.
