Students in Spencerport's STAGE Drama Club are in the final week of rehearsals before opening night of the musical "Annie."

The cast and crew of some 70 students have been working on the songs, choreography, costumes, props and set since the start of school.

"We started off with about three-hour rehearsals, but as the show has picked up, we've been here, some of us, from 4-10 every night. It is definitely time-consuming, but it is totally worth it," said Madeline Shaw, who is playing the role of Annie.

Most of the senior cast members started drama club in sixth grade with the production of Annie.

"Yes, it is a lot of fun and a full-circle moment for us," said Mikayla Jacobs, a senior playing the part of Miss Hannigan. "I just love the sense of community that it fosters and it has really instilled such a love in me so much so that I am going on to college for theatre. It's just such a fun experience to be a part of."

“It is a really fun time because you get to meet a lot of fun people and everything," said senior Brian Strohm, who plays Oliver Warbucks. "It is a nice way to give back to the community. I remember coming to the high school as a kid and it was always very exciting.”

Annie opens on Thursday, November 14 with four performances scheduled through Saturday, November 16. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased in advance online or at the door.
