ORANGE, Calif. — Another barrier has been broken this film and television awards season. For the first time, a Korean film has been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.

Parasite earned the nom, and was also nominated for Best International Film.

In all, it earned a total of six Oscar nominations.

The film has already won a Golden Globe and the cast won a Screen Actors Guild award.

Parasite had its world premiere at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival where it became the first Korean film to win the Palme d’Or and the first film to do so with a unanimous vote since 2013's Blue Is the Warmest Colour

Parasite also received four nominations at the73rd British Academy Film Awards, winning two of the categories.
