LOS ANGELES (CNS) — Glenn Weiss will direct the Oscars for the eighth consecutive year and will also produce next year’s awards ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Saturday.

Weiss will produce the show along with Ricky Kirshner. It will be Weiss’ second time as Oscars producer and Kirshner’s first.

“We are thrilled to have Glenn and Ricky at the helm,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a joint statement. “Their expertise in live television production is exactly what the Oscars needs. We look forward to working closely with them, our Board of Governors, and the Board’s Awards Committee to deliver an exciting and energized show.”

Weiss and Kirshner also issued a joint statement, joking that Kramer “made us ‘an offer we couldn’t refuse’ but he really ‘had us at hello.’”

In addition to the previous Oscars shows, Weiss has directed 21 Tony Awards shows, and has also directed last year’s multi-network inaugural night special “Celebrating America,” “The Democratic National Convention,” “The Kennedy Center Honors,” “The Primetime Emmy Awards,” “American Music Awards,” “BET Awards,” “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” and the “Academy of Country Music Awards.”

Kirshner has more than 30 years of entertainment production experience and has produced shows for every major network, including the Tony Awards, 14 Super Bowl halftime shows, “Night of Too Many Stars,” “The Primetime Emmy Awards,” “The Democratic National Convention,” presidential inaugurals and many others.

Academy and ABC officials also announced the following team members for next year’s Oscars broadcast:

  • David Chamberlin will be executive producer of the red carpet show
  • Lisa Love and Raúl Avila will be red carpet creative consultants
  • Kenny Gravillis will be creative director and will conceptualize the key art for the Oscars marketing campaignMisty Buckley and Alana Billingsley will be production designers

Love and Avila will join the team for the first time to “reimagine the Oscars red carpet aesthetic and guest experience,” organizers said. Avila is the creative director for the Met Gala, and Love is a creative contributor overseeing various aspects of the event.

Buckley and Billingsley will join the team for the first time as production designers -- and will be the Oscars’ first women-led design team.

The 95th Oscars will be held March 12, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The ceremony will again be broadcast on ABC.

Nominations will be announced Jan. 24.
