HOBE SOUNDS, Fla. — Here’s what you need to know about Blowing Rocks Preserve before you drop by this South Florida treasure:

  1. The Nature Conservancy's Blowing Rocks Preserve is located on a Barrier Island in Hobe Sound. The preserve is both lagoon and ocean-side.

  2. The preserve gets its name “Blowing Rocks” from the 1-mile stretch of Anastasia limestone that runs along the ocean at the preserve. When the tide is just right the waves crashing into the rocks create a spray or “blowing effect.”

  3. The preserve also has educational experiences for guests. Every Sunday they have a guided nature tour, and they also host a number of seminars throughout the year.

  4. Along with their education efforts, they also work hard on conservation at the preserve and around the state of Florida. One of their projects includes their sea turtle rescue group.
