HOBE SOUNDS, Fla. — Here’s what you need to know about Blowing Rocks Preserve before you drop by this South Florida treasure:
- The Nature Conservancy's Blowing Rocks Preserve is located on a Barrier Island in Hobe Sound. The preserve is both lagoon and ocean-side.
- The preserve gets its name “Blowing Rocks” from the 1-mile stretch of Anastasia limestone that runs along the ocean at the preserve. When the tide is just right the waves crashing into the rocks create a spray or “blowing effect.”
- The preserve also has educational experiences for guests. Every Sunday they have a guided nature tour, and they also host a number of seminars throughout the year.
- Along with their education efforts, they also work hard on conservation at the preserve and around the state of Florida. One of their projects includes their sea turtle rescue group.
- For more information on the preserve and what upcoming events they have on their schedule, head to their website.
