A Bay area woman is lending her voice to uplift those who need it most.

Darlene Bodnar has been singing to patients at St. Joseph's Cancer Institute in Tampa for nearly 30 years. On Monday, Bodnar recruited her husband and church family to sing with her.

"We want to see smiles on people's faces," she said. "Lift their spirits a little bit."

Bodnar sings in memory of her cousin, who passed away from cancer.

"This is my Christmas," she said. "This is my holiday cheer. Celebrating life while we still have it and all the good that it is."

Patients enjoy the music.

"It's very calming, relaxing, kind of gets you in the spirit," said patient Promise Johnson.

Along with the singing, Bodnar delivered gifts to 100 patients. She also visited the nurse who looked after her cousin who passed away.
