A Tampa man has pleaded no contest to charges he repeatedly harassed Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers.
The sheriff’s office filed a complaint with the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office after they said Keith Lukas, 43, called its non-emergency line a total of 2,927 times over a period of seven months.
Lukas would call to complain that he was not satisfied how he was treated in the past by HCSO and would use vulgar language and belittle the dispatchers, the sheriff’s office said.
The calls would continue until he hung up or until the dispatchers hung up after determining there was no need for police or medical assistance, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff's office said Lukas would often call back multiple times one after another and often would just ramble or continue to be abusive.
Under the plea, Lukas was sentenced to probation with a condition of his probation that he cannot contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office unless he has a legitimate need for law enforcement or medical services.
