The Pasco County Supervisor of Elections is optimistic there will be more early voting during the upcoming election season.

Brian Corley said his optimism stems from a new polling place in Wesley Chapel.

The new location is located in the The Grove Plaza on Wesley Grove Boulevard off State Road 54.

The county is taking advantage of a state law passed in 2013 that allows counties to expand polling places to new locations besides county buildings and libraries.

Corley said major growth in the Wesley Chapel area led to the new location.

"They (Pasco County officials) worked with corporate folks and got us this location and now for the first time in many years, one of our busiest areas of the county, Wesley Chapel voters will be voting in Wesley Chapel," Corley said. "So we've very excited."

Also, Corley said voters don't have to be a Wesley Chapel resident to take advantage of the new location, or any of the locations for that matter. If they are in the Wesley Chapel area during early voting dates, voters can stop in and cast a ballot.

Early voting runs from Aug. 16 to Aug. 23 for the primary election and Oct 25 through Nov. 1 for this fall's general election.
