A toddler shot Wednesday afternoon in Tampa is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

Tampa Police received a call before 12:30 p.m. of shots fired near 404 Hernandez Court.

Upon arrival officers discovered that 21-month-old Aaliyah Avila had been shot in the leg.

According to police, the child's father, 24-year-old Eduardo Avila, was in an argument with men outside. He went back inside his home, and someone started shooting through the door.

Police said that about 15 shots were fired, and that it appeared one of the bullets went inside, ricocheted off a wall and hit the child.

The mother and another child were also in the home, but the 21-month-old was the only one injured.

No arrests have been made.
