Lauren Fopp gave birth to Adelyn Mae at 2:59 a.m. on January 1st, 2017. Fopp said she wasn’t expecting to deliver on New Year’s Day but is overjoyed by Adelyn’s arrival.

"It was a surprise, it was a great surprise," mom, Lauren Fopp, said. "I was expecting to have a long labor, maybe by the morning if we were lucky," she added.

The family is already in love with their newest bundle of joy. Adelyn's big brother, Carter, wore his new title with pride as he held his baby sister.

"My cousins have a baby boy and we were always fighting over him, but now that I have a little sister, I don't have to," Carter said.

The family said it was the perfect beginning to the new year and can’t wait to start making memories.

"It's just a great way for all of us to start the new year, to have her here, and she's healthy, and Carter has a little sister now so it's a great way to start fresh," Lauren Fopp said.

Lauren named the baby Adelyn because she is a teacher and has never had an “Adelyn” in her class. Her middle name, Mae, is in honor of Lauren’s grandmother.
