Two people were killed in a Friday afternoon crash in Clearwater.

  • Crash occurred on U.S. Highway 19
  • Passenger died at scene, driver died at hospital

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 19, south of Curlew Road.

A vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. 19 attempted to turn left into Doral Village, and FHP said the vehicle turned into the path of a vehicle going in the opposite direction.

The front of the second vehicle collided with the passenger side of the vehicle that was trying to turn left, according to FHP.

The passenger of the first vehicle, Patricia Paris, 79, died at the scene. The driver, Henry Paris, 78, was taken to a hospital and died there, troopers said.

The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 63-year-old Charles E. Prugh of Clearwater, was taken to Bayfront Health with serious injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
