The wife of the Pulse nightclub gunman will face trial in Orlando over charges she aided her husband and obstructed the investigation.

Judge Paul G. Byron on Wednesday denied a motion by Noor Zahi Salman's lawyers to move the trial's venue out of Orlando.

Salman faces charges of aiding and abetting her husband, Omar Mateen, in his attempt to provide material support to the Islamic State terrorist organization and of obstruction of justice.

Those actions culminated in the mass murder of 49 people at Pulse nightclub on June 12, 2016, a 20-page court order said.

Salman's attorneys said she can't get a fair trial in Orlando because of extensive media coverage and statements made by Orlando Police Chief John Mina. However, the judge ruled that Mina's statements weren't prejudicial.

A jury for Salman's trial should be picked by March 1, 2018, and the trial should start a few days later.
