  • Minor injuries to driver, no injuries inside home

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a female 17-year-old driver went over an embankment, through hedges and a backyard fence before smahing into the back of a home at 11930 Whisper Creek Drive.

The driver only suffered minor injuries and no one inside the home was hurt.

The Nissan Rouge crashed into a patio sliding glass door, sending broken glass and debris throughout the room in the two-story home. The residents, who had just woke up, initially thought someone was breaking into the home.

After realizing what happened and attending to the driver who banged the door for help after the crash, the residents said they were just happy no one was hurt.

"This is a very active community, thank God nobody was hurt," said Mel Crowley. "We have a lot of runners, there's a bus stop right here. Thank God nobody was killed."
