Most major supermarkets and grocery stores are just starting to reopen as the companies assess damage and wait for power following Hurricane Irma.

Restaurants are also starting to open their doors.

  • Most Publixes back open
  • Whole Foods Market will have some stores open 
  • Walgreens, CVS, Home Depot, Lowe's will have stores open

Publix has added stores openings in dozens of areas around Florida, including some in Central Florida and Tampa. As of Tuesday morning, all Publix stores in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

In Brevard County, 7-Eleven is donating 4,000 bags of free ice to Cocoa, where power is out and water is in short supply. The free ice is while supplies last and is available at the store at 2201 Highway 524 and Industrial Road in Cocoa.

Whole Foods tweeted that some stores would be open Tuesday, including the stores in Altamonte Springs, Orlando and Winter Park, which open at 10 a.m.  

The stores in Carrollwood, Clearwater and Tampa are closed until further notice. 

Wal-Mart is getting more of its stores, neighborhood markets and Sam's Clubs open across Florida. Wal-Mart says to visit your local store's Facebook page to verify the current status.

Target says only 10 stores in Florida are still closed, including two in Brevard County -- in Merritt Island on Crockett Boulevard and in Titusville in Columbia Boulevard. 

However, store hours may be limited, and customers should check with individual stores.

Aldi has also reopened several locations throughout Florida, including in Central Florida and in Tampa. But many more remain closed.

Winn-Dixie has also begun reopening its stores across Florida. One of those stores -- the Cocoa Beach location on Canaveral Plaza Boulevard, which reopened in July after it was damaged by Hurricane Matthew the year before.

The other major supermarkets have dozens of closures in the Central Florida and Tampa Bay markets, but they are asking residents to continue checking the websites to see when stores will open:

Walgreens plans to have all stores open Tuesday. CVS will have at least some of its stores open Tuesday.

Home Depot and Lowe's also has a number of stores open in our areas.


A large number of Bloomin' Brands restaurants (Bonefish Grill, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Outback Steakhouse, Fleming's) reopened on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Bahama Breeze was able to get its Altamonte Springs, Brandon, International Drive, Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista, Tampa and Waterford Lakes locations open. The Daytona Beach location will remain closed until further notice.

Se7enbites in Orlando says it is open, though the phones are not working.

The COOP in Winter Park reopened Tuesday.

The 4 Rivers Smokehouse locations in Winter Park and Kissimmee are open.

Rocco's Tacos in Orlando is open.
