It has been an active few weeks in the tropics.

  • Hurricane Jose not expected to impact Central Florida
  • Atlantic hurricane season runs through Nov. 30

With Irma being long gone, we can all take a breath as we rebuild. There is one system currently in the tropics that we are still monitoring.

Hurricane Jose is located about 475 miles east-northeast of the southeastern Bahamas. The storm's current track has it turning back to the northeast over the cooler waters of the northern Atlantic Ocean.

This storm is not expected to impact Central Florida or the United States in any way. The only possible impacts would be improved surfing conditions for people heading out with a surfboard.

The good news is that the remainder of the tropics are quiet with no further development expected over the next five days.

The statistical peak of the Atlantic hurricane season was Sept. 10. The season runs through Nov. 30.
