AUSTIN, Texas — About 100 Charter Spectrum employees spent their Saturday volunteering to improve the homes of families in East Austin.

Spectrum partnered with Rebuilding Together to provide critical repairs to four homes in the area. The home owners are on fixed or low incomes and cannot afford the much-needed improvements.

Some residents like Mary Peters have lived in their homes for more than 50 years.

"It helps us with the money and things like that for home repairs, it keeps me here in my house, and safe and secure, and it's going to look wonderful," she said.

The national Spectrum Housing Assist Program has doubled its goal to improve 50,000 homes by 2020.
