17-year old Lillia Morris was killed in a car crash Tuesday night on State Road 54 in Trinity. The other driver, Roy Wimmer, 54, ran a red light and hit her, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Charges against Wimmer are pending.

Morris was a junior at Mitchell High School in Pasco County.

“It was rough seeing her empty seat. But we’re all hanging on,” said classmate and friend Jessica Kalo.

Kalo and fellow student Aidan McCall saw that empty seat in classrooms all day, knowing Morris would never come to school again.

“It was a shock. You don’t see it coming. You always think 'it can’t be me,' but it can be,” said McCall.

Morris had told friends she wanted to be a pediatric nurse. In fact, she was on her way, joining the school’s medical academy where she volunteered with kids.

“Just walking into elementary schools with her and seeing her face light up, you knew how much she loved kids and how much she wanted to be in the medical academy,” Kalo said.

McCall started a GoFundMe account for Lillia’s family and has already raised thousands, much of it from fellow students.

“Mitchell is altogether," McCall said. "Friends or not friends, we can come together for a common goal."
