Patrons of one of Bradenton's most well-known country music bars are sad to say goodbye.

  • Many country music stars got start at Joyland

Owners Stephanie and Ricky Lambert said many country music stars got their start at Joyland, including Eric Church, Jason Aldean, and Rascal Flatts.

They say their bar and the patrons there are like family.

"Our customers have been coming for so many years that it's truly a family," Stephanie said.

Which is why social media exploded when Joyland announced it was closing its doors next week.

"Now is the time for me to retire," Ricky said.

Joyland has been in Ricky's family for more than 30 years.

The first location opened in Clearwater. Three more locations opened after that, but the one in Bradenton is the only one left.

"My husband promised he would retire at 60. After all these years and no weekends, ever, including our honeymoon -- we had to be back. We are going to enjoy the evening and dance away," Stephanie said.

The Lamberts hope this isn't the last time the dance floor will light up.

"I hope that we can sell it, and somebody carries the legacy on as Joyland," Ricky said.

Even if that doesn't happen, they'll have countless memories to look back on.

Ryeroad will perform at Joyland Saturday night. Doors open at 7 a.m.
