SARASOTA, Fla. -- A man was seriously injured in a shooting early Sunday in Sarasota, according to police.

The shooting happened near Palmadelia Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Way at about 3:25 a.m.

The man was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

His identity has not been released.

Police say the person responsible for the shooting is unknown and still at large.

It’s unclear if Sunday’s shooting is connected to other active cases, police said.
