  • Hospital cited for not disclosing serious medical errors

The hospital was recently cited by a state agency for not disclosing two serious medical errors, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said it will use a system called "quality assurance and performance improvement." Which is a comprehensive and data driven method to improve quality and safety.

“CMS plays an important part in this effort by working with the state survey agency (AHCA) to ensure providers are adhering to quality of service standards and outcomes to protect the health and safety of the facility’s patients,” said a spokesperson.

Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement is both anticipatory and retrospective in its efforts to identify how the organization is performing, including where and why the facility performance is at risk or has failed to meet standards.
