Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Friday into Saturday morning, along with a preview of conditions through next week.

  • Lots of moisture
  • Heavy downpours
  • Drier early next week

Scattered storms will die down with partly cloudy skies going mostly clear into early Saturday. Morning lows will be in the low to mid 70s with some upper 60s in Citrus to Hernando counties.

Higher moisture content will return this weekend.

Saturday will start with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, but clouds will be on the increase in the afternoon to evening. Atmospheric moisture will increase, leading to higher rain chances coming back into the area.

Expect numerous scattered showers and storms Saturday evening across the region with a 60 percent coverage. That will keep the highs in the check, likely stopping in the mid 80s.

Winds will be from a different direction Saturday, mainly from the east.  Therefore expect afternoon to evening thunderstorms to move toward our side of the state and the gulf.

Lows Saturday night will be in the low 70s.

Sunday will feature lots of atmospheric moisture, so expect lots of clouds along with another 60 percent coverage of showers and storms. Highs will be held in the low to mid 80s that day.

Monday will still feature lingering high rain chances of about 50 to 60 percent.

Tuesday through Thursday will feature drier air with lower rain chances.

Looking way out toward Memorial Day weekend, there are some early signs that more tropical moisture might come up toward us, giving us yet another round of high rain chances.  However, it’s way too early for details on that forecast, and we will know a lot more once we get into next week.
