ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Tuesday into Wednesday morning, along with a look at conditions through the end of the week.

Scattered showers are winding down, with partly cloudy skies taking us into early Wednesday morning. Lows will be in the low 70s.

Wednesday will start out dry, but humid. Expect another round of storms to form.

The first half of the day will be partly sunny, with highs quickly reaching the upper 80s to near 90 by early afternoon. Then the clouds will build and the thunderstorms will form with about a 40 to 50 percent coverage in the afternoon to evening.

The storms will form a little farther inland than they have the past couple of days, and they will have very little movement, slowly winding down in the evening. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s.

Thursday will be similar with a slight uptick in coverage to about 50 or 60 percent.

More moisture is lurking to the south in the western Caribbean and will be moving northward this weekend.

That moisture will start moving up into our region Friday afternoon, which is when our rain chances will increase even higher into the 70 percent range. Highs Friday will be in the mid to upper 80s. Most of the showers and storms that day will be in the afternoon to evening.

Saturday will feature the highest rain chance of the week in the 80 to 90 percent range.  At this time it looks like it will be cloudy on Saturday with multiple intervals of rain. That will keep the highs down in the upper 70s to low 80s.

There will still be abundant moisture lingering into Sunday and Monday, but it’s too early to tell if the rain chance will stay at 80 percent or possibly go down to 50 or 60 percent.

That will depend on if the tropical low in the Caribbean drifts to our west or if it comes closer.

Surprisingly, the closer the low comes to us, the drier the air will get Sunday into Monday. But the farther it stays to the west we’ll likely keep much higher rain chances in our area through Sunday and Monday.

Either way, it looks like a wet pattern ahead into the holiday weekend.
