TAMPA, Fla. -- In anticipation of bad weather from Subtropical Storm Alberto, officials canceled the Sunset Music Festival on Sunday.

  • Sunset Music Festival canceled on second day
  • Organizers concerned about Alberto
  • Refund policy will be announced later online

“This decision to cancel was made by the Tampa Sports Authority, in conjunction with the Tampa Police Department and Tampa Fire Rescue, and was based on the fact Sunday’s weather poses a serious risk to the health, safety and welfare of Sunset Festival attendees,” festival organizers said in a statement.

Organizers also cited the Tropical Storm Warning in the Tampa area and Gov. Scott declaring a state of emergency for the state.

“The safety of our attendees, staff, artists, partners and community is always our number one priority,” the statement went on to say.

The music festival was set to open at 3 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium for its second and final day.

Artists set to perform included 3LAU, Excision, and Alan Walker.

The Sunset Music Festival plans to announce its refund policy on its website.
