TAMPA -- A 1-year-old child was not injured early Thursday after briefly being left unattended in a bathtub. 

  • Baby, 1, found underwater in bathtub
  • Parent was giving baby a bath, went to turn of stove
  • Baby alert and breathing when EMS arrived

Tampa police were called to a home in the 3400 block of North 51st Street just after 1:30 a.m. 

According to police, a parent was giving the child a bath when they stepped away to turn off the stove in the kitchen. 

The unattended child was found moments later under the water. 

The parent called paramedics after finding the baby. The baby was alert and breathing when paramedics arrived. 

Police conducted an investigating at the home Thursday morning, complete with crime tape around the scene. 

Police are now awaiting a doctors report but it does not appear any charges will be filed in the case.
