NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. -- A homeless New Port Richey man was arrested for stealing a deputy's firearm that was left at a fast food restaurant, officials said.

David Scott Haney, 49, is accused of stealing the 40-caliber agency-issued handgun that a Pasco Sheriff's detective left in a Burger King bathroom on Friday.
Haney is charged with one count of theft of a firearm and was booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
Officials said deputies found the gun in a wooded area near Oelsner Street and Green Key Beach.
The case remains under investigation.
