DUNEDIN, Fla.-- After $600,000 in renovations, the Historical Museum in Dunedin is near completion.

  • $600,000 in renovations
  • Designed to resemble 1924 railroad station
  • Scheduled to be complete by early July

After receiving a state grant, the historical landmark is being made to look like the original 1924 railroad station.

Museum director Vinnie Luisi says that their goal is for visitors to feel like they're taking a step back in time.

“It’s keeping that feeling that we talked about outside with that historic exterior, same thing inside," Luisi said. "You walk in, you’re still going to feel like you’re in the 20s period and you’re going to be walking up to a ticket newsstand and getting your ticket to walk in to the new train station."

Now all that's left to be done is completing a few exhibits and some historic finishing touches.

“We’re very impressed with what we’ve got ready for the public to see," Luisi said.

The finishing touches are scheduled to be done by early July.

In the meantime, the rest of the museum is open to the public.
